John Murphy
John Murphy became interested in magic when he got a magic set for Christmas over 60 years ago. He read, studied, and practiced throughout his grammar school years, then took a little break for high school, college, and a career as a computer engineer.
About 25 years ago he got the bug again, and became one of San Antonio's most active amateur magicians. Mr. Murphy, best known for his rope magic, is a past officer of the local chapters of both of the major professional organizations for magicians, the Society of American Magicians and the International brotherhood of Magicians, and has both performed and taught magic to other magicians as a lecturer at magicians' conventions in several
states.
His magic is an eclectic mix of his own versions of classical magic effects and more modern magical and mental mysteries. He has a unique ability to be able to entertain children, teens, and adults all at the same time; a true family entertainer.
